Activism 101: Expanding Your Leadership

“We invite you to consider that now, right now, your love and being – your leadership and support – is critically important.  We need you.  The country needs you. The world needs you.” This is a quote from the letter Christopher McAuliffe sent out after the US election. Did this letter impact you? Are you not quite sure where to put your talent, energy and passion to create change? Spend an hour with activist Dahlia Ferlito organizer and founding member of White People for Black Lives (WP4BL). We will discuss:

  • ·         What does it mean to be an activist
  • ·         How to become an Activist
  • ·         The importance of activism to our lives and community
  • ·         What are fears or hesitations callers have about stepping into action

Dahlia Ferlito is a queer-identified white anti-racist and with WP4BL she believes that white people are responsible for ending racism and white supremacy. Dahlia is committed to ongoing self-education and showing up in ways that support people of color-led movements without reproducing the harm of white supremacy in activist spaces. Her professional background is in Public Health, with a history of managing HIV/STI prevention education programs and substance abuse prevention programs with high risk populations. Dahlia is a trainer for the Centers for Disease Control and currently works in the City of Los Angeles AIDS Coordinator’s Office. She hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services from Northeastern University and a Master’s in Public Health from California State University, Northridge. For more information please visit
